Pickled herrings have a potent yet delicate flavour and can be enjoyed warm or straight from the jar. Try heating the herrings in a saucepan, and serve with dill, onion and hot buttered potatoes. Serve cold, arranging herring pieces with a dollop of sour cream on potato slices or with a vinaigrette-based German or French potato salad. Or let a jar of pickled herrings turn a rustic rye crispbread into a quick and classic lunch, with just a scattering of good cucumber pickles on the side.

Our pickled fish is supplied by Klädesholmen Seafood AB, a collaboration between four fishing families on the tiny island of Klädesholmen who have lived and worked the coast of West Sweden since 1859.
