Acai ( pronounced ah-sah-EE ) is a super berry from the Amazon rainforest in Brazil.
Known as a superfood, it contains loads of antioxidants as well as magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, vitamin E, vitamin B1 and fibre.
Acai can be served as a sweet dish but is also served in Northern Brazil as a savoury dish with shrimp.
It’s also provided a valuable source of employment and income for small, traditional towns throughout the Amazon.
